JOB DESCRIPTION

BJU International – CME Editor

The BJU International charity aims to assist in advancing and improving education in urology and related areas.  Over the next few years, in addition to publishing the BJUI Journal, the charity is seeking to develop comprehensive online continuing medical education (CME) content, in collaboration with urological associations around the world, to meet the educational needs of the international urological community.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE BJUI CME EDITOR

Overall management

The CME Editor, supported by a BJUI Education Committee, will be responsible for overseeing the development and publication of online CME content.

The CME Editor is accountable to the BJUI Trustees in relation to the ethical, governance, strategic and commercial aspects of CME published on behalf of BJU International charity.

The CME Editor will be required to attend (in person or by videoconference) meetings of the BJUI Executive at least three times a year and to provide a written CME Editor’s report in advance of these meetings.

Education Committee Responsibilities

 Selection of Education Committee members in consultation with the BJUI Executive.  Appointments will be made by the BJUI Executive.  Membership of the Education Committee will include the Editor of the BJUI Journal and representatives from BAUS and USANZ
 Management of the Education Committee including regular evaluation of member’s contributions to ensure the Education Committee remains effective.

CME Office Support

 Management of the online content manager in relation to CME content with the support of the BJUI Company.

CME Content and Publishing

 Defining the scope of the BJUI CME urology curriculum in consultation with the Education Committee and the wider international urological community
 Setting educational standards and liaising with urological associations about individual accreditation requirements, as appropriate
 Development of publication plan to ensure timely commissioning, development and publication of CME content to deliver the defined syllabus within an agreed time period
 Development of ethical and governance policies for the CME content and ensuring adherence to these policies
 Defining the policy for the peer review process of content and ensuring adherence to this policy
 Managing CME content flow and publishing schedule to agreed timelines in conjunction with the online content manager
 Developing policy and practices for ensuring published CME content is regularly updated
 Handling any publication or ethical issues as they arise with the support of the BJUI charity
 Day to day liaison and attendance at meetings with the platform providers and/or BJUI charity as necessary.

Marketing

 Maintaining and developing relationships with urological associations in conjunction with the BJUI charity and the BJUI Journal Editorial team
 Assisting in the development of marketing initiatives to encourage awareness and usage of the BJUI online CME offering.

Finance

 Ensuring that costs in the annual CME budget agreed with the BJUI Executive remain within budget.

Remuneration will be appropriate for this position.
