BJUI Overseas Clinical Research Award

This award enables both experienced and trainee urologists with supervision to visit a unit in the developing world.

Our aim is to support the establishment of closer research and education links with developing countries, increasing urological knowledge that is of direct benefit to overseas units.

Award

The award is provided for an experienced urologist, aged between 35 and 65, with a proven record in research. This will enable distinctive clinical research projects to be carried out at a unit in a developing country, to be chosen in consultation with the selection panel.

A bursary is also provided to support up to four urological trainees, each visiting the selected unit for three months. This allows trainees to gain surgical experience under supervision, as well as involving them in the research work.

Budgets and Timescales

Ideally, the project should be completed within a one-year period, certainly in the collection of material and data.

A budget of £50,000 is available for the project, with up to an additional £10,000 available for family travel and subsistence.

The bursaries for urological trainees will provide around £1,200 per month.

Applications

With your application you will need to provide:

  • A curriculum vitae
  • A covering letter stating why you are applying and what you hope to achieve
  • An outline of the project, including background, methods, study designs, statistical support for the design (where appropriate) and details of how you intend to use the award.

Please submit your application to:
